Delivery Suite
The Maternity Unit’s delivery suite has four large birthing rooms which are fully equipped with the latest technology to ensure a safe environment for both mother and baby. The adjoining operating theatre is a major advantage when the need for an emergency Caesarean Section arises.
Cardiotocography
Calvary North Adelaide Hospital is the only private hospital in South Australia which has a Cardiotocograph or CTG machine which enables obstetricians to monitor fetal heart rate and uterine contractions remotely from their rooms or mobile phones.
Level 2a Nursery
A special feature of the Maternity Unit is the Level 2a nursery. Level 2a status means that Calvary North Adelaide Hospital is equipped to provide care for premature and highly dependent newborn babies. This care can include time in an isolette, phototherapy for jaundice and the placement of feeding tubes and drips. Having a Level 2a nursery also means that mother and baby are less likely to be separated if the baby requires specialised care.
Critical Care Unit
Calvary North Adelaide Hospital has a 24 hour Critical Care Unit which provides Intensive Care for adults if required. The onsite ICU means that mothers and babies are less likely to be separated if the mother requires specialised care.

One of the important services Calvary North Adelaide Hospital provides is a Medical Officer onsite 24 hours a day. Supported by the Intensive Care Unit, the medical officer can provide immediate care to expecting and new mothers in the event of an emergency - day or night.
Private Patient Rooms
The Maternity Unit is in the process of upgrading its patient rooms. With much of this upgrade completed, the newly renovated rooms are spacious with plenty of room for partners to have an overnight stay when required. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms and south facing rooms have beautiful views of the city and the North Adelaide Golf Course.
